Welcome back to the final instalment of Tarot with Caro, where we’re exploring all 56 teams competing at the Australian Division I and II Championships for 2022. We conclude with the 12 teams competing in the Division I Open’s Division in late April 2022.
Reminder: the cards pick me, I don’t pick them. I hope you’ve had as much fun as I have divining these cards with a side of YouTube. Send us a comment if you want to see more takes throughout the year.
These are my hot takes - always manifest with a positive attitude (I am READY to win nationals, not “can’t wait”)1
Ellipsis Men
There is pure potential on this team with the Ace of Wands. Ideas are flowing through Lippy Men’s, motivating and inspiring them to pursue a new path - maybe discovering self-timer photos was just your first stroke of genius? This card is encouraging the team to keep pursuing your passion. You can always start small, and treat the new idea as an experiment - and then if it feels good, keep doing it! If not, make some adjustments and try again. The important thing is that the team needs to act now, rather than spending more time researching and planning. Keep in mind however that the Ace of Wands represents potential, but not guaranteed results. You have the spark to fuel a massive fire, but remember the flash itself is not enough to keep the flames burning. Proceed with delightful caution.
Fyshwick United
A reversed High Priestess can signify a blockage to this team’s wisdom of the subconscious mind. Are you being swayed by other people’s opinions or swept up in some drama, sometimes without even realising it? It’s time for Fyshwick to stop feeling guilty for listening to their own intuition, or hiding it from others, afraid of their judgement. This is a team that is building towards big goals, so take a deep breath, re-examine your goals and surrender to your intuition - this is your secret superpower. When times get tough, step away from the team for a moment to find a quiet space to meditate, tap into your inner femininity and chill out your way. You may have a tendency to overthink in situations and get easily distracted, so always remember to listen to your instincts - and get that layout D.
Hot Chilly
Hot Chilly are marching to the beat of their own drum. When reversed, The Hierophant reminds the team that they are their own teachers - wisdom comes from within the team or club, rather than an external source. It might be unsettling at first as you make your own way through the season, but trust yourselves and tap into your inner knowledge. Are Hot Chilly going to bring out a new way of playing zone d or offence? Vertical middle stacks are so boring! Stop running on auto-pilot, and see what changes need to be made to take this team to the next level. It may be alienating to work outside the box, and other teams may question your motivations to go against tradition. Sure, there might be some trouble with someone in authority, but now is the time to reclaim your power. Challenge the status quo.
Krank
Are y’all going through a rough patch? The Lovers reversed suggests that there is reluctance to open up your hearts to the rest of the team out of fear of getting hurt. Does this team honour and accept who they are? Are you at war between yourselves, or struggling with team conflicts? Are you punishing yourselves for something you’ve done, or something you’ve considered yourselves individually responsible for? Get around each other! Focus on creating a positive system based on the Krank’s core values, they will guide the team to making better decisions at Nationals. Open and honest communication is key. Don’t cut corners - you need to realise that whatever you perceive in other people, you also have within yourself. Go get ‘em tigers.
Mammoth
The Judgement signals the arrival of revelations. Is Mammoth cosmically levelling up? Let go of your old selves, and step into the newest version of this team. Mammoth may be at a crossroads, so be aware that any choice the team makes will bring significant change with long-lasting effects. Tune into your Higher Selves, and trust your judgement to know you are on the right path. Honestly, this team may be close to reaching a significant stage in their journey either as a club or a team. Keep purging any regrets, and release the guilt and sadness about the past. This will leave the team refreshed and ready to take on their final challenges of the season. Take comfort is sharing your struggles with each other within the group environment, and let the more experienced players guide you. You’re all in this together.
Melbourne Juggernaut
Every single person on this team has an important role to play, and coming together as a team will ensure you’re achieving more significant goals than you would individually. The Three of Pentacles signals that you should keep collaborating with others, creating synergies to produce big results. After 16 years, their team motto couldn’t be more fitting - there is victory from friendship. Each person - new or experienced, has something substantial to offer, and contributes to the team through active listening and sharing. Juggernaut’s not quite at the finish line just yet, but you’ve started to implement the tools and skills you needed to accomplish your objectives. You’re on the right track, keep going! Adequate preparation, management and organisation are integral components of this card, so this season is where good management will pay off.
Newcastle I-Beam
The Sun represents success, radiance and abundance - the dark times are finally ending. This team should be encouraged that their positive and radiant energy will follow them all, and bring happiness and joy. People are drawn to this team, because they always see the bright side of life. There may have been significant challenges throughout the season, but you needed these obstacles as you’ve now discovered who you are, and what you’re playing for. I-Beam is brimming with confidence because you know everything will work out - is life good or what?! You need to tap into your inner power and express this in positive ways - this team is in their peak physical performance. Be inspired by the children in this community, and carpe diem.
Outbreak Mountain
The Kind of Wands reversed suggests that although this team is in a leadership position in the community, they are not quite ready to step into this role. Be mindful that as Outbreak strives towards their dream, you are not dis-empowering others, or taking their contributions for granted. Leaders on the team - don’t let success get to your head. Consider embracing the concept of “followership” - the ability to take direction, be part of a team and deliver on what is expected of you. While there may be some highly ambitious goals here, don’t set yourselves up for failure by setting goals that are significantly out of reach, and therefore pushing the rest of the team towards these unattainable goals. Stay true to what’s important to the core values of this team, and do the work. Throw that keychain on the ground - your team is here to support you, so lean into each other.
Sublime Ultimate Club
The hustle culture is huge within this team, and a reversed Nine of Pentacles is telling you to celebrate yourselves! Practice self-love and increase your self-worth - invest in yourselves. You may be too busy working hard towards your goals that you have no time or energy to enjoy the fruits of your labour. You’re finally able to leave your state, so spend that money on an extended holiday around Nationals. Don’t listen to the voice of internalised patriarchy, and feel like you need to behave a certain way - male fantasies can be overrated. Remember to stop and smell the roses, and don’t worry what other people think of you. Indulge in life’s luxuries, because you are more than enough - you’re worth it. Channel your namesake, everything is sublime.
Sunder Dice
A reversed Death card reveals a resistance to change - this team is on the verge of true meaningful change, but is stubbornness blinding them? Don’t let harmful viewpoints from the past interfere with new opportunities, or you’ll feel like you’re stuck in limbo. Now is the time to embrace change and see what wonderful possibilities become available to this team when you say ‘yes’. To support the process, try repeating an affirmation like “I embrace change in all forms”. You may be surprised by how this subtle shift in energy allows new doors to open in ways the team never have expected. Do not be afraid of the unknown. Kids - trust in the dad's previous experiences, and enjoy the fruits of Dice’s labour while also looking ahead to next year’s harvest.
Sunder Slice
Do we have a team of romantics over here? The Knight of Cups signifies that this team is in touch with their intuition and emotions, and uses them masterfully to charm and attract others. They are in touch with their feminine side, and show compassion and understanding towards others as they have already learned to understand their own feelings and emotions. Love this in the open’s division! This team is motivated by action - they have already dreamed about what they want to create, and are now moving forward to make it a reality. Explore your passions and big ideas. This team is on a mission, so keep in mind that true imagination feeds on actions and is led by your hearts. You can inspire hope all the way to WUCC this year.
Wildcats
A reversed Five of Cups suggests that this team has recently suffered a personal setback or disappointment - could you have won NZ Nationals with a bigger lead? Forgive yourselves and move on. Wildcats can recognise the value of the painful experience in the broader scheme of things, and appreciate the lessons learned and to be learnt. Know that you are always doing the best you can - perhaps practise a ritual like Ho’opononpono to cleanse yourselves. Now is the time to open up, so don’t be afraid to ask for help or talk with someone you trust - it may help overcome this temporary setback and get stronger. Open yourselves to opportunities and take risks again, especially when you leave your heart out on the field. And don’t book an early flight back home - revel with your teammates, and enjoy being in the presence of each other.
